Drawing at airports is one of my favorite places to draw. I was flying down to Anaheim to attend Siggraph.

Firefly 2013

First time I had heard of Matt & Kim. So much energy, I wanted to try show that energy in this painting of Kim dancing on the crowd.

I tried to capture some fellow campers in the area along with my campsite crew, I'm missing a couple. Next time I'll get everyone!

I needed to eat and I needed to draw. After doing both, and was fueled for more dancing :P 

East Coast Doodles

I've wanted to visit New York City for a long while now, and figured it was time! I had a fantastic experience, had a great tour guide (thanks "Z") and wish I could have stayed longer. After NY I took a bus to Baltimore and met up some old Lego colleagues, we drove to Delaware for a music festival called Firefly and finally after that I went to Virginia for a quick bite then jumped on the subway to Washington D.C.

I don't think I posted any #Doodlegrams for June. I have been trying to optimize time and use it as wisely as possible. I'm slowly figuring it out... I think ha. Anyways, I've nearly filled up another sketchbook and not posted much. Here are a few pages.

Feel like I've been living under a rock lately. I haven't seen much sunlight either, but when I DO, I burn! Ha. I'm as red as a lobster right now. Last year I hosted a sketchcrawl for the Carnaval. This year I didn't even realize what day it was! I'm Glad I went, and I'm glad I got a couple doodles in. 

Disconnect

One of my favorite things to do is attend Performance Art Theater. I find it incredibly valuable to watch how an actor on stage performs because their performance can be so unique. I've always enjoyed it from an animation perspective, it's such great reference for gestures and poses. 

I was invited to go watch my friend Z perform in "Disconnect" down in San Jose recently and I loved it. Below are a couple doodles I made in the dark while watching.

Left Handed Doodles

I blew out my right hand so I started teaching myself to draw with my left hand. 

I started to practice drawing with both hands at the same time.

I've been studying old masters and one of the masters I've enjoyed is Augustus John's work. 

I struggle with that nice loose flow I have with my right hand, so shading and drawing things like hair are hard, so I cheat a little and just my right hand for some of those things.
